BLACK RIVER — Douglas Patrick McIlroy, 46, of 29613 Maple St. Black River, was pronounced dead on arrival at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown on July 16, 2009.
Mr. McIlroy was born in Carthage on March 4, 1963, the son of the late James F. and Thelma E. Martin McIlroy. He was a 1982 graduate of Carthage Central High School.
He obtained his CDL license and was a truck driver for David Johnson for several years. He was an equipment operator for P.E. Black River Operating Services LLC, the co-generation plant on Fort Drum, where he has been employed since March of 2001. He enjoyed motorcycles, boating and camping. He was a member of St. James Church, Carthage.
He is survived by his two daughters: Nicole L. McIlroy of Watertown and Aydrienne M. Wood of Malvern, OH, a grandson, Nickolas J.J. Dalton and a granddaughter, Elyxis M. Wood, two sisters: Carolyn Knouse of Londerville, PA and Kathy Howe of Carthage, three brothers: G. Wayne McIlroy of Carthage, Dennis McIlroy of West Carthage and Lynn McIlroy of Peru and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church, Carthage with the Rev. John J. Cosmic officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be on Monday from 4-7pm.
