Third period notes

UVM goal - Roloff (empty net) to end the game.

Goal UVM Roloff (Medvec), 15:00 (pp)

Saints Penalty - D. Keller - Holding.

Saints don't score on their second penalty.

Penalty UVM - Matt Marshall for tripping.

Saints just aren't getting shots on net, and when they are the pucks straight into Madore's chest.

Second period impressions

This game is going by rather quickly. St. Lawrence isn't playing with a whole lot of urgency, but did stave off a late power-play which will carry over into the third period. Jeremiah Cunningham is in the box for eight seconds to start the final frame.

Mike McKenzie left early in the period with an apparent shoulder injury but returned a few minutes later. He will be a huge asset for the Saints if they come back and tie or win this one. It's unfortunate that the lone goal of this game came off a deflection.

Second period notes

Curran shot hits the crossbar. Best chance so far against the lightning-quick Madore in net for UVM.

Mckenzie is back.

Penalty killed.

Penalty SLU - Vermeulen. 4-on-3.

Matt Raley gets two minutes for running into the goalie. As does Kevan Miller for UVM. 4-on-4 for two minutes.

Mckenzie heads straight to the bench grabbing his shoulder. We'll keep you posted.

St. Lawrence fails to scored on its first power play. Both teams are 0-for-1.

First period impressions

Although St. Lawrence finds itself down 1-0, the period was not a failure. Josh Burrows' score came off a deflection by Drewiske. Kain Tisi looked like he had it lined up, but Drewiske's stick got a piece of the shot and it went in.

Aside from that, the game is pretty evenly matched. St. Lawrence just isn't getting a lot of shots off. Right now, the Catamounts have the edge there.

St. Lawrence has to be a little more aggressive in the second period to get that goal back.

First period notes

End of Period

Goal UVM - Josh Burrows (Pacan, Vock), 19:02

IIt looks like two very evenly matched teams, although Vermont is getting a bit more zone time than the Saints. That could be a result of the power play.

Penalty killed

Penalty SLU - Torney

A couple nice shots by the Saints. They appear to be a little faster than Vermont, at least to start.

-

Gutterson Fieldhouse is cold, but the Saints look good during opening warm ups. My blogging will be limited to scoring updates and a few comments during periods. I will still write some thoughts in between periods.
