Third period notes

Vermeulen gets his second

Carden scores on breakaway

Goal Alex Curran wide open in front takes shot deflected in by Vermeulen

Word is Armstrong is OK. He felt some tingling so all those measures were precautionary. Hopefully he'll be good for next weekend. It is unlikely he'll play tomorrow.

Goal MIKE MCKENZIE Backhanded over the right shoulder

Tisi comes right back and makes another great save of his own.

Drewiske misses a point-blank shot in front.

Keller is back in and seems alright.

Penalty killed.

Second period impressions

This third period is going to be very interesting and exciting. Bollig is fired up after defending Derek Keller. Joe Marsh is out on the ice to talk to the officials. They have corrected the penalty on Bollig to unsportsmanlike conduct. Colgate will the start the third period on a 1:34 power play.

Once Bollig gets heated up, watch out. Marsh calls him a "heavyweight." I have to side with the Saints here. A Colgate player left his skates and elbowed Keller in the head. It clearly shook him up. So far the Saints have taken five penalties while Colgate has three... and one of them was for too many men. A few blown calls would have aided the Saints, but you still have to go back to the first period and look at that missed opportunity on a 5-on-3 advantage. St. Lawrence just had to score there. It hasn't cost them yet and you can thank Tisi for that. He has 11 marvelous saves. I'm looking forward to the third period, how about you?

Second period notes

Bollig sent to box for arguing with the official, but they call it boarding. Derek Keller took a monster hit and now the fans are giving it to the officials.

Penalty killed,

Hughes takes three monster one-timers but can't get it to convert.

Penalty killed and Colgate gets called for too many men on the ice to boot

Another penalty on SLU.... Vermeulen two minutes

Penalty killed again. St. Lawrence is playing a little faster this period, almost like they're behind in the game.

Penalty on Child again. Not sure what this one is. He isn't happy going to the box.

Penalty killed. St. Lawrence played that penalty kill very aggressively, but they didn't get burned on it.

Pete Child two minutes for slashing

Some great efforts by the Saints, but nothing gets by Colgate goalie Charles Long.

More of the same to start the second period. Pretty even play but St. Lawrence seems to be controlling the pace a little better.

First period impressions

St. Lawrence needed to score on the 5-on-3 but perhaps the long delay caused a few players to tighten up. It took a good 90 seconds for the Saints to look really crisp during the two-man advantage. Colgate is on full attack mode all the time, hitting everything that moves and taking shots on net. Kain Tisi has done an outstanding job in net for the Saints. He was aided by a pipe-hit, but otherwise nothing has come close to getting by him.

St. Lawrence needs to be a bit more aggressive in the second period and get on the board first. I think the first team to score will be the one to win this.

First period notes

Colgate a masterful job defensively to kill off all five minutes of the power play and two of the 5-on-3.

Saints are way too tentative on the 5-on-3 and fail to score.

Another penalty coming against Colgate. Interference 5-on-3 for a full two minutes

Back to action.

A long delay here as Armstrong gets put on a back board and carried off the ice. I'll keep you posted in the moments to come and after the game as to the status of Armstrong. Sad news for a good person, good hockey player.

Trainers are stabilizing Armstrong's head a neck. There is motion in his skate and he was able to roll over on his back with help.

Sean Carty heads to the locker room. 5-minute game misconduct... 10:47 into the first period.

Armstrong blindisded, still down on the ice, head into the boards. He is moving, but this will at least be a 5-minute penalty.

A frantic power play comes to an end as Tisi makes a few incredible saves.

Colgate hits the inside of the left post. No goal.

Tisi made a couple really nice saves right out of the power play.

Derek Keller to the box for a hard check into the boards.

Both teams are playing pretty even here early on. St. Lawrence can't win a faceoff however and Colgate is getting more zone time.

Running a little late, got to the rink about 10 minutes before showtime. We're good now.

It looks like everyone who was out will be playing tonight, save Aaron Bogosian and Jared Keller.
