Ithaca man sentenced to five years in prison

LOWVILLE — An Ithaca man was sentenced Friday in Lewis County Court to five years in state prison on drug-related charges stemming from the moe.down music festival in Turin.

William F. White,35, was additionally sentenced to two years of post-release supervision, forfeiture of assets seized during his arrest, a six-month suspension of driving privileges in New York and $375 in court fees on two counts each of third-degree criminal sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance and a single count of first-degree promoting prison contraband, to which he pleaded guilty Jan. 29.

Mr. White was accused of selling LSD on Sept. 6 at the moe.down music festival in Turin and with possessing the drug Sept. 8 in the Lewis County jail.

Also in Lewis County Court on Friday:

Peyton B. Smith,36, of 3347 Elm St., Port Leyden, was sentenced to five years' probation, a $2,500 fine, a six-month driver's license suspension and $375 in court fees on a charge of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, to which he pleaded guilty Dec. 4. Mr. Smith was accused of having 24.3 ounces of marijuana Oct. 8 in the village of Port Leyden.

Caroline M. Ortlieb,50, of 6289 Water St., Martinsburg, was sentenced to three years' probation, $956.45 restitution, 50 hours of community service and $200 in court fees on a charge of third-degree identity theft, to which she pleaded guilty Dec. 18. Ms. Ortlieb was accused of purchasing various items with a debit card belonging to John Hammond between Sept. 21 and Oct. 19 in the village of Lowville using his personal identification number.

Bryon M. Ielfield,27, Lowville, pleaded guilty to a charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief, amended from third-degree. The plea also satisfied a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana. Sentencing was set for March 26. Mr. Ielfield was accused of breaking a store window at Quality Home Leasing on South State Street and possessing marijuana June 6.

Walter M. Martin,34, of 7499 S. State St., had his case of two counts of criminal diversion of prescription medication and a single count of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance adjourned to March 5. He was accused of selling several prescription drugs and Vicoprofen on two dates in November.

Also in Lewis County Court on Monday:

Peter J. Scheer,22, of 4045 Markham Road, Lyons Falls, following successful completion of the county Drug Court program, was sentenced to five years' probation, $1,925 restitution and court fees on a charge of second-degree forgery, to which he pleaded guilty in October 2008. He was charged in September 2008 with signing four personal checks belonging to Stephen Scheer and stealing $200 in cash from him, all in the town of West Turin.
