Paper mill's president was at U.N. climate conference

Newton Falls Fine Paper President Scott C. Travers, who is also president of Minas Basin Pulp & Paper, Hantsport, Nova Scotia, was among a delegation of 12 businesses that accompanied Canadian government officials to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen in December.

Minas Basin is playing a role in the development of North America's first tidal-power site in the Bay of Fundy. Minas Basin is on the forefront of various environmental and energy strategies and was Canada's first company to produce paperboard using 100 percent recycled material.

Newton Falls is working to replace its fuel oil-powered heating system with a biomass boiler and a 10-megawatt generator.
