ROCHESTER — Vytas Kriskus came off the bench to score a game-high 29 points as Brandeis University won a first round game in the NCAA Division III men's basketball tournament, 76-64 over St. Lawrence University on Friday at St. John Fisher College.

Kriskus connected on 6-of-9 attempts from 3-point range to help the Judges (20-6) advance to today's second round game against St. John Fisher, which beat Brooklyn College.

Senior Andy Hoercher led the Saints (16-12) with 26 points in the final game of his career. Ralph Temgoua added 14 points and five rebounds, but the Saints couldn't bounce back from the Judges' 13-2 first half run that helped them take control.

Brandeis enjoyed a productive showing from the field, shooting 56.6 percent and draining 11 3-pointers. The Judges led by as many as 18 points about five minutes into the second half, when Tyrone Hughes hit a three.

The loss snapped St. Lawrence's five-game win streak.

Kenny Small and Terrell Hollins turned in 16 and 12 points, respectively, for Brandeis.
