Elizabeth R. "Betty" Twiss, 89, Temple St., Watertown, passed away Sat. evening, Mar. 6, 2010, at Samaritan Medical Center.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service Inc., Watertown, on Tues., Mar. 9, from 4 - 7PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wed., Mar. 7, at 11AM with Rev. Richard W. Kennedy, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Glenwood Cemetery.
Miss Twiss was born in Watertown on Jan. 29, 1921, the daughter of Francis J. Sr and Sybel R. O'Riley Twiss. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Watertown High School.
She worked for Faichney's, F.H. Empsall's Department Store, Smith & Percy Store, and for many years she worked for Robinson's in the Arcade, all in Watertown. She was a former member and past president of the Republican Club. She enjoyed cooking, making home-made cards, and especially writing letters to friends and family, keeping everyone in touch with each other.
Betty is survived by her 2 sisters, Joan C. Twiss and Mary Lou Twiss, both of Watertown; her niece, Christine Raymond, and her companion, Roberto "Eli" Elizondo, Watertown; her great niece and her husband, Bethany & Christian Hughes, and great nephew, Samuel Elizondo, all of Watertown. Her 2 brothers, Francis J. Twiss, Jr. and William F. Twiss, died before her.
