LOWVILLE — Hilda R. Crowell, 90, formerly of the Erie Canal Road, died early Monday morning, March 8, 2010 at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility.
Born in Earlville on May 16, 1919 the daughter of the late Frank D. and Ruth Hull Reed, she graduated from Bridgehampton High School in Long Island. Hilda worked for Oneida National Bank in Utica as a teller for a few years.
She married Francis V. Crowell in 1966 in Millers Mill. Mr. Crowell operated Crowell's Gas Service at Beaver River Station until his retirement in 1988. He died in November of 2004.
She was a former member of the West Winfield Eastern Star, and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Bridgehampton, and Millers Mill.
She is survived by her two sons, David G. and his wife Marcia Slone of Barboursville, VA; Raymond D. Slone of Richmond, VA; a daughter Linda Lord of Cocoa Beach, FL; a step son and his wife, Gerald C. and Anne Crowell Lowville; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a sister Alice Addy of Mattituck, Long Island; a step brother; Ralph Reed; nieces and nephews.
Hilda is predeceased by her son Patrick Slone, a brother Douglas Reed, a step sister Audrey Cuthbertson.
