GOUVERNEUR — Linda Lee Stowell, age 59, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 8, 2010.
Linda was born on December 6, 1950 in Gouverneur. She was a daughter of Dorothy (Tharrett) McBroom who survives her and the late Harold McBroom.
Linda was a homemaker. She had previously worked as a housekeeper for E.J. Noble Hospital, the Gouverneur Bowling alley and had cleaned and readied the 801 Housing complex after its completion.
She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and watching her grandsons wrestle. Linda enjoyed her flower garden, bowling, and time spent swimming in (and cleaning) her pool.
Her survivors include her mother, Dorothy McBroom; her loving soul mate and best friend of 40 years, Rocky Hartle; a son, Ricky L. and his companion, Melinda McIntyre; two daughters, Bobbie Jo and her husband, Gerald Mannigan, Nicole M. Hartle and her companion, Thomas MacKay; she was also a mother figure to Rocky's nephew, Christopher Shampine and his companion, Corvetta Hart. Linda is also survived by four brothers, Ed McBroom and his companion, Myra Copeland, Gary Tharrett and his companion, Kay, Richard Tharrett, and Allen McBroom; four sisters, Lorraine Stowell, Judy and Mike Nichols, Connie and George LaBow, and Sallie and Al Emrich; and ten grandchildren, Brittany, Lynda Jane, Derick, Dillon and Macie Stowell, Mackenzie McIntyre, Makayla Mannigan, Molly MacKay, Hillary Mannigan, Christopher Shampine, Jr.
Linda is predeceased by her father and a brother, Robert McBroom.
Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Thursday, March 11th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Greg Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in East Riverside Cemetery.
