FOWLER — Gerald D. Hayden, 92, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Kinney Nursing Home, Gouverneur.
Gerald was born August 9, 1917, the son of David and Emma Fields Hayden.
He attended Hermon and Gouverneur schools and married Mary Louise Rice on April 19, 1941 at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Gouverneur.
Gerald operated dairy farms in Richville and Gouverneur for several years and also was employed at Jones and Laughlin Steel Company, Star Lake where he worked since 1951 and retired in 1977. He enjoyed camping and hunting. Gerald had been a member of the Rock Shanty Hill Club in Balmat, Bingo Club in Edwards, and Chub Lake Hunting Club in Gouverneur.
Mrs. Hayden, an employee of E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur, passed away November 27, 1984.
Gerald is survived by two daughters Sally Jean Fuller of Fowler, Joanne Feimann of Fort Covington, two sons Wayne Hayden of Fowler, Gerald E. Hayden of Fowler, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three infant daughters Carolyn, Patty, and Penny Hayden, seven brothers Arthur, Emerson, Harold, Donald "Jack", Stanley, Kenneth, and Floyd Hayden, six sisters Mary Hayden, Dorothy Brown, Beulah Denesha, Rachel Patton, Luella Hayden, and Emma Hayden.
Calling hours are today, Wednesday, March 10th, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. William Hart, pastor of the Hermon United Methodist Church officiating and burial in Hailesboro Cemetery.
