Elderly Mexico man saved after falling through ice

ELLISBURG — A full recovery is expected for James A. Lackey, 71, who was rescued after he fell through the ice sometime before 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Pond.

State police said Mr. Lackey, Mexico, was being cared for at Samaritan Hospital, where he was being watched for signs of hypothermia.

South Jefferson Ambulance, Belleville fire department, the Jefferson County STAR Team, the U.S. Coast Guard and a helicopter were all dispatched to help with the extrication.
