The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is seeking public assistance in the investigation of a personal injury hit-and-run accident the afternoon of March 2 just beyond the city of Watertown line on Arsenal Street.
Marie A. Edginton, 54, County Route 68, Rodman, was treated at Samaritan Medical Center for complaints of pain after her car was struck on the right side by the left front of a red vehicle as both were turning right from the northbound exit ramp of Interstate 81 onto Arsenal Street, according to the Sheriff's Department.
The second auto hit the right side of the Edginton car while the unknown driver was making an unsafe lane change, the accident report says.
The unknown driver pulled into Price Chopper Plaza and last was seen going by Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar.
Mrs. Edginton was able to tell a deputy only that the hit-and-run car was about the size of a Honda Civic, and that it was driven by an elderly woman, according to Sheriff John P. Burns.
A deputy found no skid marks in the road, he said, and determined that the viewing range of an outdoor surveillance camera at Price Chopper does not extend to where the accident occurred, nor to the restaurant.
Any possible witnesses to the accident, or people with knowledge about an elderly woman who has a damaged red car, are asked to call the sheriff's office at 788-1441.
