Suspect indicted on cocaine charges

CANTON — A Rooseveltown man was indicted by a St. Lawrence County grand jury Thursday for allegedly having 13.6 grams of cocaine.

Christopher I. Benedict, 29, of 19 County Route 45, Apt. B8, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He reportedly was found with the cocaine Sept. 17 at Iroquois Village Apartments in the town of Massena.

The grand jury also returned an indictment against Joseph M. Hutchison, 25, of 206 Elizabeth St., Ogdensburg. He was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for reportedly selling heroin in Ogdensburg on March 18, 2009.
