The only contested race in St. Lawrence County village elections Tuesday is for a one-year unexpired term on the Hermon Board of Trustees.

Voters will go to the Hermon Fire Hall to choose between Democrat Sheri J. Smith and Republican Benjamin D. Murcray. The vacancy was created when Christopher Stransky resigned to become the water plant operator.

Running unopposed for two two-year seats on the board are Richard J. Bardeschewski Jr., an incumbent Republican, and Conservative Marlene Carvel. Ms. Carvel was appointed to the board to fill the seat vacated by William A. Dibble, who is serving on the Town Council.

Polls in villages will be open from noon to 9 p.m. Voting will take place in:

■ Edwards: Voters may cast ballots in the town hall for incumbent Republican Phillip Soper, who is running unopposed for a two-year trustee seat.

■ Hammond: Mayor Shelly M. Youngs, an independent, is unopposed in her bid for another two-year term. Trustee Patti T. Belknap, an independent, is unopposed for a two-year seat on the board. The vote will take place in the fire hall.

■ Morristown: Polling will take place in the fire station for John R. Barse, an incumbent independent, who is running unopposed for a two-year trustee seat.

■ Norwood: Polls will be open at American Legion Post 68, 10 Maple St., for voters to cast ballots for incumbent Democrats Timothy A. Levison and Richard J. Boprey, who are unopposed for two four-year seats.

■ Richville: Independent incumbents Larry G. Deets and Anthony J. Wood are running unopposed for two two-year trustee seats. Voting will take place at the village offices.
