Shirley M. Sauer

CARTHAGE — Shirley M. Sauer, 80, 588 South James St., died Friday evening at home, under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

A lifelong Carthage resident, she was born on June 13th, 1929 to Lyle and Anna Everett Baird. She married Lyle Sauer on July 28, 1946 in Carthage. Mr. Sauer died on August 4, 1983. She was a homemaker, caring mother and grandmother, who also enjoyed time with her bird, Pretty Boy.

She is survived by her daughter, Eva Maracle, Carthage, her daughter and son in law, Anita & Don Dorchester, Deer River and her son and daughter in law, Fred & Debbie Sauer, Tennessee. Also surviving are her grandchildren and their spouses, Eric & Lydia Sauer, Carthage, Jason Sauer Carthage, Tara & Rodney Babas, Colorado, Corey Dorchester, Beaver Falls, Shanna & Mike Roberts, Watertown and Donny & Stacy Dorchester, Deer River, her great-grandchildren, Tyler Sauer, Noah Dorchester, Braeden Dorchester, Chase Crump, Cain Roberts, Michael Roberts, Kamdyn Dorchester and Mattingly Dorchester, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by her brother, Lyle Baird, Jr. and a son in law, Merle Maracle.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 16th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage.
