LISBON — The Town Council unanimously rejected a study calling for $118,000 in renovations to a bathhouse at the town-owned beach.
The council questioned several aspects of an estimate provided by Burley-Guminiak & Associates, a Canton engineering firm, that included a total overhaul of the bathhouse. The proposal suggested a variety of upgrades ranging from door replacements to new ventilation and plumbing systems.
The proposal also suggested a new roof, but Councilmen Vincent M. Winters and Nathaniel Putney, who visited the bathhouse before the board meeting, said the roof was in good condition.
Mr. Putney said chipboard dividers on the stalls and stall doors need to be replaced. He said that other minor repairs are needed, but that work on the magnitude proposed by the engineering firm was unnecessary.
