Oswego County men cited
with hotel disturbances
Three men were arrested about 9:30 p.m. Saturday by Watertown police at Best Western Carriage House Inn, 300 Washington St., in connection with incidents that evening at the hotel bar.
Police charged two Oswego men, Scott T. Leonard, 32, and Scott E. Dubois, 40, with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Scott B. Barnett, 40, of 5621 County Route 16, Mexico, was charged with second-degree harassment.
Police said Mr. Leonard pushed and shoved people in a hotel hallway and refused to follow officers' instructions when they tried to place him under arrest.
Mr. Dubois refused to leave the bar after repeatedly being asked to do so by officers, police said. He yelled at employees and threw his hat, hitting a police sergeant, then refused to be handcuffed as the officers tried to arrest him, they alleged.
Mr. Barnett leaned over the bar and spit in the face of Gary D. Fitzgerald, police said.
All three men were taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building. Mr. Leonard was released on $500 bail and Mr. Barnett on $100 bail. Mr. Dubois was released without bail.
Man held after firing
of shotgun during fight
CALCIUM — A man was arrested after firing multiple shotgun rounds during a fight at his home early Sunday, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department reported.
Eric K. Cruz, 23, of 25508 James St., was charged with first-degree attempted assault and first-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the incident that occurred just before 1:05 a.m. Sunday.
Police said three other people were present during the incident: Jamar Burrus, 24, Amber Chatman, 26, and Claudia Jaques, 23. None of them was charged. It wasn't clear whether Mr. Cruz shot at them.
Police could confirm two shots fired, they said. One slug, from a 12-gauge shotgun, struck the home of Jessica Rutherford and her husband, whose name was unavailable, at 25497 James St., and penetrated several walls before becoming lodged in a kitchen wall. The couple was home at the time but no one was injured.
Mr. Cruz was arraigned and held on $50,000 bail at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown.
State police assisted at the scene.
