10 Main Street Bakery in Adams closes without notice after November opening

ADAMS — The bakery the community came to love for a few short months closed unexpectedly and without notice.

After being open sporadically for three months, owners Holly K. Briot and Matthew J. Bettinger have posted "For Sale" signs in the windows of 10 Main Street Bakery.

Connie A. Elliot, vice president of the South Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, said it was quite a shock to see the signs in the windows the morning of March 8.

"It's going to really leave a hole in our downtown community," Ms. Elliot said. "Their store was always crowded and everyone loved their products."

The storefront is listed with M.J. Nohle Associates, Adams. Co-owner Barbara Nohle said Ms. Briot said all inquires regarding the bakery should be directed to either Ms. Briot or Mr. Bettinger.

Despite numerous attempts to reach the former owners, they were unavailable for comment.

The couple opened the shop Nov. 23.
