Thousand Islands Bantam girls capture gold

The Thousand Islands girls Bantam hockey team won the gold medal at the 31st annual Toronto Leaside girls hockey tournament held March 12-14.

Jessica Prance and Miranda Kolb each scored shootout goals in the championship game after regulation ended in a 1-1 tie. Thousand Islands goalie Kayla McCabe stopped both shooters from Leaside to seal the victory.

McCabe was named most valuable player for Thousand Islands, a team made up of girls under the age of 14 from Clayton, Watertown, Dexter and other surrounding villages.
