Two ex-convicts pleaded guilty Monday in Jefferson County Court to charges that they possessed rings stolen from an Evans Mills woman.

Larry CameronandChristopher M. Swem, both 26 and of Watertown, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and are due to be sentenced April 19.

Mr. Cameron entered an Alford plea, meaning he did not admit to the crime, but was pleading guilty to avoid the possibility of being convicted of a more serious offense at trial.

Both were accused in grand jury indictments of possessing rings belonging to Elizabeth Beamon on Aug. 14. Police said at the time of their arrest that they tried to sell the jewelry at a coin and collectibles shop in Watertown.

Mr. Swem was released to parole supervision in December 2008 after serving nearly five years in state prison on a charge of second-degree robbery, according to the state Department of Correctional Services Web site. He was in prison from February 2002 to June 2003 on a fourth-degree grand larceny conviction.

Mr. Cameron was released to parole supervision in June after serving more than five years in prison on charges of third-degree criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance.

All three of the convictions were from County Court.

In other court activity Monday,Seameon L. Perry, 29, address not confirmed, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and is scheduled to be sentenced April 26. He was accused in an indictment handed up in October of selling cocaine in August.

He has served two sentences in state prison, one for a third-degree burglary conviction in 2003 in Chautauqua County and a second for a third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance conviction in 2004 in Oneida County, according to the DOCS Web site. He was released under parole supervision in May.
