Watertown man accused
of cutting child's harness
A man who acted out his disapproval over how a woman controlled a child at Salmon Run Mall on Monday afternoon is facing criminal charges in town of Watertown Court.
Gabriel A. Thornberry, 24, of 927 State St., saw a woman using a child harness to prevent the child from straying away from her, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. He took out his pocket knife and cut the nylon strap of the harness, then chastised the woman, identified as Heather J. Garrison, West Carthage, for having the child "chained up like a dog," a deputy said.
He was arraigned before town of Watertown Justice James P. McClusky on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment. He was released without bail and is due to return to court at a later date.
Man charged with using
brother's driver's license
A Felts Mills man was jailed Monday night after he used his brother's Indiana driver's license for identification as he tried to enter Fort Drum, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
Brian M. Wall, 30, of 24438 Main St., remained a prisoner Tuesday in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, charged with second-degree criminal impersonation and using another person's license. Bail was set at $1,500 by LeRay Town Justice John W. Hallett.
An officer at the Mount Belvedere gate detected the misrepresentation of a license belonging to Christopher J. Wall, 21, according to a document filed in town of LeRay Court.
Man accused of allowing
14-year-olds to have sex
Watertown police allege that while a man was baby-sitting at a residence in the city, he permitted a boy and girl, both 14, to have sexual intercourse in the house.
Anthony J. Sparks, 22, of 206 Franklin St., Apt. 308, was charged Saturday evening with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He is due to appear in City Court.
Police said the incident occurred the afternoon of Valentine's Day. He was attending to five other children in the house, and kept them away from the two teenagers, police said.
A parent of one of the teenagers filed a complaint for the arrest, police said.
Watertown man facing
menacing, weapon counts
Grant D. Robinson, 19, of 1215 Washington St., was arrested by Watertown police at 4:28 a.m. Saturdayat his home and charged with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said he threatened Jerry Wiley with a surgical clamp Friday at 300 Pleasant St.
Mr. Robinson was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and released on $500 bail.
Watertown man charged
with disorderly conduct
Christopher J. Bennett, 27, of 647 Mundy St., was arrested by Watertown police at 12:26 a.m. Saturday at 100 Court St. and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Mr. Bennett yelled and acted aggressively in front of a business and then pulled and pushed an officer who was trying to arrest him, police reported.
Mr. Bennett was taken to jail at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, where he was released on $500 bail.
Theresa resident accused
of mischief, harassment
THERESA — Joshua J. Cole, 25, of 27031 Route 26, was arrested Sunday night by state police on allegations that he vandalized another man's vehicle and then provided false information about the incident to police.
He was released without bail following arraignment before Antwerp Town Justice Karl I. Ridsdale on charges of third-degree criminal mischief, filing a false written statement and aggravated harassment, and awaits grand jury action.
Police allege that he threw rocks at a vehicle owned by David Locy, Theresa, who filed a complaint Feb. 28. He also is accused of making numerous annoying phone calls to Mr. Locy, police said.
Man accused of causing
ruckus on Court Street
Christopher J. Bennett, 27, of 647 Mundy St., was charged early Saturday with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in the 100 block of Court Street, according to city police.
An officer alleged that about 12:25 a.m. Mr. Bennett was yelling on the street, displaying "aggressive, tumultuous and threatening behavior" that was observed by patrons of a nearby business.
He pulled away from and also pushed an officer in an attempt to avoid being taken into custody, police alleged.
Woman accused of hitting
man, resisting her arrest
A Black River woman was arrested Saturday night as a result of a disturbance inside Mick's Place, 204 Factory St.
Jennifer L. Percy, 29, of 30201 Burnup Road, punched a man in the face, and then struggled with officers as they attempted to take her into custody, police said. She screamed, swung her arms, kicked and attempted to hit the officers, police alleged.
She faces prosecution in City Court on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Pair accused of smoking
pot in vehicle in Adams
ADAMS — Two men were found smoking marijuana early Sunday in a vehicle parked on Grange Avenue, according to village police.
Dustin M. Armstrong, 23, of 8131 Route 289, Belleville, and Robert M. Scott, 24, of 8838 Route 178, Henderson, were charged with misdemeanor counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. They are ordered to appear in Village Court.
Mr. Armstrong additionally was cited with unlawful possession of marijuana.
Black River woman cited
after disturbance at bar
Kristi E. Young, 28, of 21780 Miser Road, Black River, was arrested by Watertown police at 1:59 a.m. Sunday at Edge of the River Pub, 519 W. Main St., and charged with second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct.
Police said she screamed at and pushed a bar employee, Michael A. Robinson.
Ms. Young was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and released.
Port Leyden man accused
of endangering 3 children
PORT LEYDEN — Lewis County sheriff's deputies on Sunday charged Joseph S. Kraeger, 26, of 7931 Moose River Road, with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Mr. Kraeger got into a fight with his wife in front of their three children, deputies allege. He was arraigned in West Turin Town Court and released on his own recognizance to appear in Lyonsdale Town Court at a later date.
