More than ever, the American flag stands for freedom, and represents a democracy that few other countries enjoy. I realize that I am not telling you anything that you don't already know.

The message that I want to convey to you is that I am saddened and upset about too many American flags that are torn and ripped beyond repair, yet still being flown. To me it is disrespectful to fly the flag in such a state. I am a Vietnam veteran who loves our country. The flag represents pride in our nation and as a people who have the privilege to live in the United States. I ask that you also take pride in flying our colors by purchasing a new flag when it becomes worn out. Please don't disrespect it by leaving it on the pole in shreds due to weather and age.

"Freedom isn't Free" and also remember our brave soldiers who have fought and are fighting for our freedoms.
