General Brown’s Jacob Powell, who was one of the key performers during the Lions’ run to the Section 3 Class C football title in the fall, has signed a letter of intent to play for Hobart College next season.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound lineman chose Hobart over St. John Fisher, St. Lawrence University and the University of Rochester.

Powell was a first-team all state pick in Class C, won first-team Times All-North honors as an offensive lineman and was a Class C North first-team all star. A four-year starter for coach Steve Fisher, he was a captain this season.

Powell, who is forecast to play defensive tackle for Hobart, will study international economics.

He is the son of Peter and Laura Powell.
