St. Lawrence University senior Alyssa Pirinelli won the NCAA Division III championship in the shot put Friday night in Berea, Ohio.

Pirinelli claimed the title with a throw of 47-feet, 7-inches, which tied the mark for the best throw in Division III all season and set a stadium record.

Wisconsin Oshkosh's Jecel Gerner finished second with a toss of 47-2 1/4.

Pirinelli, a native of North Tonawanda, was the runner-up in the shot put at last season's outdoor meet.
