Retired Col. David J. Clark, a former garrison commander at Fort Drum, was inducted June 1 into the state Senate Veterans Hall of Fame.
"Colonel Clark came to Northern New York through Fort Drum and after serving our country, chose to stay in Jefferson County to serve our community," said state Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine, D-Cape Vincent, who nominated Col. Clark.
"His distinguished career in defense of our way of life and his role as a pillar of our community in retirement made him stand out for this honor," he said.
A St. Petersburg, Fla., native, Col. Clark was Fort Drum's garrison commander from June 2005 to May 2008, overseeing the post's expansion of infrastructure and personnel. After his tenure as garrison commander, he served 15 months in Iraq with the 10th Mountain Division command.
Col. Clark is now a contractor with General Dynamics and a member of the Rotary Club, Association of the U.S. Army and USO and Greater Watertown-North Country Chamber of Commerce board.
