Fort Drum infantryman killed in Afghanistan blast

A 10th Mountain Division soldier was killed Saturday in an improvised explosive device attack in Afghanistan.

Spc. Brian M. Anderson, 24, Harrisonburg., Va., a soldier with the 1st Brigade Combat Team, was killed in Za Khel, Afghanistan, Fort Drum announced Tuesday.

Spc. Anderson joined the Army in March 2008 and, after completing training, arrived at Fort Drum in July 2008. He was an infantryman with the 1st Battalion 87th Infantry Regiment.

He is survived by his mother, father, brother and sister.
