Carthage woman in rollover among those cited with DWI

A Carthage woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after being involved in a one-car rollover at 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Route 3 in the town of Diana.

Lewis County sheriff's de-puties said Amanda L. Ward, 27, was driving east in a 2000 Ford Taurus near the Lewis-Jefferson county border when she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to go off the right side of the road and flip over.

A passenger in the vehicle, Joseph R. Marek, 38, Natural Bridge, was taken by Carthage Rescue Squad to Carthage Area Hospital for treatment of minor, unspecified injuries.

Ms. Ward was charged with DWI and crossing hazard markings. She allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.11 percent. State law says a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher constitutes intoxication.

Also charged with DWI and related offenses:

■ David E. Thompson Jr., 23, of 20632 Munns Road, Fort Drum, also was charged by Watertown police with failure to signal a turn at 4:26 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of LeRay Street. He allegedly had a BAC of 0.13 percent.

■ Delmar T. Slate, 30, Ellisburg, was charged by state police at 2:40 a.m. Saturday on Comstock Road in the town of Lorraine. He allegedly had a BAC of 0.15 percent.

Charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol:

■ Laurie B. Bartle, 52, of 36 Main St., Antwerp, was charged at 4:21 a.m. Sunday after state police stopped her for failure to keep right on County Route 10 in the town of Rossie.

Police said her BAC was 0.06 percent.

■ Robert E. Baker Jr., 18, Lyons Falls, also was charged with having a loud exhaust at 11:03 p.m. Saturday on Number Four Road in the town of Watson. He allegedly had a BAC of 0.06 percent.

Charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs:

■ Jeremiah J. Colwell, 29, of 12 5th Ave., Apt. 2, Adams, was charged by Watertown police at 7:28 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of West Main Street.

■ Shawndel M. Anderson, 23, Watertown, also was charged by state police with speeding and driving without a license at 6:30 a.m. Sunday on Route 37 in the town of Pamelia.
