'Alice in Wonderland Jr.' on stage Friday in Clayton

CLAYTON — Seventy children, ages 5 to 17, have enrolled in Theater Week sponsored by the Young Peoples Theater of the 1000 Islands Performing Arts Fund and will perform "Alice in Wonderland Jr." at 7 p.m. Friday at Guardino Elementary School. Theater Week culminates with the performance.

General admission is $3 for children. Those under age 4 will be admitted free.

The fast-paced stage adaptation of Alice's madcap adventures in Wonderland features updated dialogue and new arrangements of classic songs. "Alice in Wonderland Jr." is produced in conjunction with Dramatic Performing Rights License agreement with Music Theatre International.

Theater Week is funded, in part, by a grant from Stewart's Foundation Holiday Match Program, Ronald McDonald Foundation and contributions from local service organizations, businesses and individuals.

Barry Pratt, manager of the Clayton Opera House, is project coordinator and supervising director. Acting instructors are Sam Iraci, who has been a professional performer for more than 50 years; Ronald Sinclair, pastor of Oxbow Presbyterian Church and former president of North Jefferson Community Theater; and Jim Goodenbery, music/theater teacher at Carthage High School.

Musical director is Chris Autote, elementary music teacher in the Carthage School District. Choreographer is Kathy Michael, director of North Ballet Company in Watertown.
