Test the oil companies

Many people seem upset about President Obama's renewed moratorium on deepwater drilling. If he has his way, no one will be able to drill for oil in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico for some time. I believe that this is too harsh. I think he should set it up so companies could earn back their rights to drill in deep water.

All any one of them should need to do is to fix the present BP leak. Demonstrate that they have the knowledge to stop an oil leak a mile below the surface of the water, and then they can drill for oil a mile below the surface of the water.

Any one of their rigs could have the same problem tomorrow. It's really so simple. Oil companies, show us your competence.
