Two people were injured in the three-car accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon at State and Arlington streets.

Watertown police said Philip E. Hemminger II, 18, County Route 144, Black River, was driving east on State Street when he failed to stop at a red light, and his vehicle struck a van driven by Wayne R. Hall, 56, of 506 Stone St. The vehicles then crashed into a sedan driven by Robert L. Champion, 65, of 677 Burchard St., which was traveling north on Arlington Street, police said.

Mr. Hemminger told police he was talking to a passenger and failed to realize the light was red. Mr. Hall was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment of an undisclosed injury. Mr. Champion complained of pain in his left arm but declined medical treatment.

Mr. Hemminger was ticketed with passing through a red light.
