Bruce W. Kohl

PORT LEYDEN — Bruce W. Kohl, 52, of West Main St., passed away at his residence, after a brief illness, on Thursday, July 29, 2010, while under the care of his loving family, and Lewis Co. Hospice.

He was born in Lowville, on September 17, 1957, a son of Andrew F. and Helen Farr Kohl. Bruce grew up in the Lyons Falls and Port Leyden area, first attending school at Port Leyden Elementary School, before completing his education at South Lewis Senior High School, Turin. He was employed in the staining department at Ethan Allen Furniture Co. Boonville, then as an assembly line laborer at Bailey Lumber Co., Boonville, then as a heavy equipment operator at Syracuse Utilities of Brewerton, his last employment was at Wilbert's Tree Farm of West Leyden.

He especially enjoyed camping with his family and friends at Fowlerville, old Ford Trucks, and his volunteer work for the N.Y.S. Woodsmen's Field Days, held each summer, in Boonville.

In addition to his long time companion, Margaret Tittle, of Port Leyden, he is survived by two sons, Jason (Denial) Kohl, Constableville, and Stony Tittle and Nichole Darling, Lyons Falls; two daughters, Tanya Kohl, and Richard Baslow and Sara Tittle, and Jason Axtell, all of Port Leyden; three sisters, Debbie (Johnny) Rogers, Port Leyden, Betty (Leo) Rogers, Lyons Falls, and Shirley Kohl, Port Leyden; three brothers, Raymond (Barbara) Kohl, Robbin ( Leota) Kohl, and Mark Kohl, all of Port Leyden, thirteen grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, a sister Penny, and a brother, Hans.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at the New Covenant Cemetery, Port Leyden. Visitation is Saturday noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St., Boonville.
