MALONE — The football and golf coach at Carthage Central School pleaded guilty to a reduced charge to resolve a drunken-driving case.

Samuel A. Millich Jr., 46, Black River, pleaded guilty Aug. 10 in Malone Village Court to driving while ability impaired by alcohol. He was sentenced to pay $560 in court fines, had his driver's license suspended for 90 days and was given a one-year conditional discharge, the Franklin County district attorney's office and Malone court officials said Thursday.

Mr. Millich also must complete a drunken-driver program and attend a session of the victim impact panel, Malone court officials said. He was represented by attorney Todd J. Doldo.

Malone village police on Aug. 5 charged Mr. Millich with driving while intoxicated. Officers alleged his blood alcohol content was 0.14 percent when he was stopped at a sobriety road check on Duane Street. State law establishes 0.08 percent BAC as the threshold for intoxication.

Mr. Millich and Carthage Central School Superintendent Joseph M. Catanzaro declined to comment Thursday.
