Here’s an update given by Engineer Kurt W. Hauk on some projects being overseen by the Engineering Department:

  • The Greensview Drive sewer upgrade: Phase I of the project that has been blocking Massey Street for most of the summer is almost complete. The contractor has nearly completed installing the sewer mains and laterals along Massey Street. Workers will then take a break until Ives Hill Golf Course is closed for the season before excavating and upgrading a main that sits under a pair of fairways.
  • Breen Avenue reconstruction: The contractor – which happens to be the same company completing the Greensview project – has installed curbs and is in the process of pouring sidewalks.
  • Riggs Avenue reconstruction: The contractor is almost done replacing water lines and will then move to upgrading the sewer lines.
  • Water treatment plant dosing station rehabilitation: Bids are expected to be opened on Friday. The city included $220,000 in its 2010-11 capital budget for the project.
  • J.B. Wise parking lot reconstruction: Bids will be opened on the estimated $880,000 project on Sept. 8. Work to replace portions of the underground infrastructure will likely depend on how well the weather holds up.
