The expectations for General Brown are not diminished with veteran coach Steve Fisher no longer on the sidelines.

Long-time Fisher assistant Tom Frears has the same high hopes for the Lions even though they did lose several key performers from last year's team that captured the school's fourth Section 3 Class C title and won 10 games.

"Hopefully, we'll keep on doing the things that have made General Brown successful,'' Frears said.

Taking over at quarterback will be junior Nick Frears, who saw limited time last year but is a perfect player to run the Lions' versatile attack.

Frears will be handing the ball off to senior tailback Nick Klusacek, who rushed for 670 yards and scored 17 touchdowns and is also a standout defensive back.

Senior Kyle Scordo, who ran for 578 yards and 11 TDs, will help take some of the pressure off Klusacek, as will senior fullback Mark Allen, a 6-1, 235-pounder who has the unenviable task of trying to replace Times All-North MVP Jared Flath in the backfield and at middle linebacker.

Fears is looking for players such as veteran linemen as Nick Cobb (out last year with an injury), Chadd Call, Shawn Savage and Devon Tanner to keep the General Brown play consistent up front. Fears, Scordo, Tyler and Josh O'Hearn are some of the other key defensive performers.
