I recently took the time to check out the new roller skating rink at Northland Plaza. What a great place. It's an especially fun place for the youth of our city and surrounding area.
I have many fond memories of roller skating at the fairgrounds rink with music by Jack Briceland on the organ. My week was not complete unless I went to "the rink" every Friday evening when I was a teenager.
I encourage all our young people and even those young at heart to give it a try. It's good, clean fun and a great addition to our city. Many thanks to the management for undertaking this endeavor and bringing roller skating back. Good luck to you.
I would also like to comment on the performing arts. The Masonic Temple is for sale and what a great place this would be for the theater groups, dance groups, individual teachers, etc. It's very majestic, is in an ideal location and has a big parking lot. I haven't seen the inside in years and am sure it is in need of much repair, but I think it deserves some thought and consideration.
There must be some grants or monies that could be obtained to get this off the ground. With all of Jefferson County, Fort Drum and surrounding areas, seems like it could be a very productive venture and a real asset to our city.
