MEXICO — Dan Conlin recovered a fumble and ran through the rain 75 yards for the winning score to lift the Carthage football team to a 33-30 come-from-behind Class A nonleague win on Friday.
Carthage voluntarily took a safety after being pinned inside its own 5-yard line with 90 seconds to play. Ian Yates intercepted Mexico's last efforts to end the game.
Quarterback Nick Piroli completed 12-of-25 passes for 196 yards, including touchdown throws to Josh Britton, Kyle Temple and Thomas Grimm for Carthage (1-0).
Brandon Burnham had 30 carries and 258 rushing yards and three touchdowns for Mexico (0-1).
INDIAN RIVER 55, FULTON 23
Darrius Bryant rushed for 226 yards on just nine carries and scored and four touchdowns to lead the Warriors to a Class A nonleague win over the Raiders in Fulton.
Bryant's TD runs came from 51 yards, 15 yards, 60 yards and 65 yards out. Cornelius Dukes added two scores, a 45- and a 65-yarder, and finished with 152 yards rushing yards for Indian River (1-0), which finished with 521 yards rushing. Shawn Mitchell also contributed an 85-yard kickoff return.
Donald Watson scored twice for Fulton (0-1).
IHC 22, SANDY CREEK 0
Santino Alteri rushed for two touchdowns as the Cavaliers opened the season by blanking the Comets in a nonleague game at Sandy Creek.
Anthony Magovney drilled a 46-yard field goal to open the scoring for IHC (1-0), and Ryan Spicer threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Lazore.
Caleb Ward led Sandy Creek (0-1) with 43 rushing yards.

Luke Bicknell rushed for 226 yards on 30 carries and scored three touchdown as the Bears downed the Spartans in a Class B East game in Adams.
Devon Christopher completed 12-of-13 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown for Chittenango (1-0).
A. J. Chartrand ran for 142 yards and a rushing touchdown for South Jefferson (0-1).

The Falcons fell behind 22-7 at halftime and fell in a Class D crossover game at Turin.
Dylan Peebles led the Falcons with two touchdown runs and finished with 101 yards rushing on 19 carries.
The other South Lewis score came on a Gabe Stinebrickner fumble recovery in the end zone.
Jesus Rodriguez led the Tigers with 133 yards rushing and three touchdown runs, including one from 86 yards. He also returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score.
MASSENA 21, ST. LAWRENCE 2
Quarterback Troy Myers played a role in all three Red Raider touchdowns, running for one and throwing for two, in a Northern Football Conference Class A victory in Massena.
Myers scored on an 18-yard run in the first quarter, completed a 10-yard scoring pass to Anto Almasian in the second quarter and connected with Trevor Convertini on a 6-yard score in the fourth quarter. The Larries only points came on a safety when Massena fumbled the ball out of the end zone.
Dan Tower gained 81 yards on 15 carries for SLC.
POTSDAM 38, TUPPER LAKE 14
Zack Linsky rushed for 147 yards on just 13 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead the Sandstoners past the Lumberjacks (0-1) in an Northern Football Conference nonleague game in Tupper Lake.
Jon Bradish added 81 yards on 13 carries for Potsdam (1-0) and scored three touchdowns, including one on a 22-yard run.
Tyler Garrow returned a kickoff 77 yards for the Lumberjacks.
