CROGHAN — A Watertown woman was in critical condition Saturday in a Syracuse hospital after she was ejected from an ATV around 3:15 p.m.

State police in Lowville said Kylie L. Kampnich, 18, of 23272 Knowlesville Road, Watertown, the passenger of the vehicle, was taken by Beaver Falls ambulance to Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, and then to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, for treatment of serious, unspecified injuries.

The ATV operator, Sean T. Hanson, 19, of 21037 County Route 93, Lorraine, also was ejected from the vehicle when he ran it into a tree on the Aspen Hollow truck trail in the town of Croghan, police said. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Mr. Hanson was traveling north on the trail when he lost control of the ATV and went off the left side of the road, police said.

The investigation is continuing; no further information was available Saturday.
