Mary Organisciak

ADAMS — Mary Organisciak, 91, formerly of Adams and Cheektowaga, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, September 4th, under the loving care of the 3rd floor nursing staff at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville, where she had resided since June 21st.

Born Mavijianna Wszelaki on September 8, 1918 in St. Catharines, Ontario, a daughter of Antoni and Caroline Nalewajko Wszelaki. She married Chester Organisciak on November 1, 1935. He died November 9, 1959.

She became a naturalized citizen of the United States on May 12, 1960.

Mary was employed by A, M, & A, a department store on Walden Ave. in Cheektowaga. She retired in 1986 when she moved to Country View Apartments, Adams, to be near her daughter and family. Mary was honored as the "longest living resident" at Country View.

She enjoyed knitting dish cloths for family and friends, and maintained a keen memory when it came to birthdates and anniversaries of all family members.

Mary is survived by three grandsons and their wives, David R. and Lynne Sischo, Rodman; Brian C. and Kathy Sischo, Manlius; Kevin F. and Deanna Sischo, Schenectady. Six great grandchildren, Hayley (Daniel) Crimmins, Vestal; Lauren Sischo, Canton; Katelyn and Nickolas Sischo, Manlius; Emily and Andrew Sischo, Schenectady; several nieces and nephews whom were a very special part of her life.

She is predeceased by her daughter, Frances Eleanor Sischo on June 11, 2004; her son-in-law Robert H. Sischo on January 19, 2005; two sisters, Frances Organisciak and Joyce Ciupak; and a brother, Alec Blake, formerly known as Alexander Wszelaki.

A private burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Cemetery, Cheektowaga, at the convenience of the family.
