Potsdam shuts out Wells, improves record to 3-0

POTSDAM — Cortney Poirier scored one goal and assisted on another to help lead the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Wells College in a nonconference game Tuesday.

Heather Johnson and Jess Mehm also scored for the Bears (3-0 overall). Caitlin Titus and Kim Callahan each made one save to combine to shut out Wells (0-2).

SUNY PLATTSBURGH 2,

ST. LAWRENCE 1

Kayla Rabideau and Kristie Pageau both scored goals to lead the Cardinals (3-0) past host St. Lawrence University in a nonconference matchup in Canton.

Stephanie Sayward scored for the Saints (2-1).

JEFFERSON CC 4, HERKIMER CCC 3

Briana Guarino scored twice in the first half as the host Cannoneers upset nationally ranked Herkimer CCC in a Region 3 contest.

Alicia Uhlein added a goal and assist, while Teddi Filiatrault netted the game-winner in the 74th minute for the Cannoneers (2-0).

Ashley Tracy recorded a goal and an assist for Herkimer.

MEN'S GOLF

SUNY POTSDAM WINS TOURNEY

Shane Laurie was the medalist with a two-under par round of 70, leading the SUNY Potsdam squad to a victory over Clarkson and SUNY Oswego in the Potsdam/Clarkson Invitational at Potsdam Country Club.

The Bears finished with 306 strokes. Clarkson had 329 and SUNY Oswego was third with 331.

SUNY Potsdam's Benton Sullivan finished second with a 75.

VOLLEYBALL

HERKIMER CCC 3, JEFFERSON CC 0

Herkimer swept the host Cannoneers 25-13, 25-14, 25-21 in a Region 3 match.

Anna Jane Kirch led JCC with four kills, a block and five digs. Marie Rohde had four kills, an ace and six digs for the Cannoneers (0-3).
