Many have often joked that Chuck Kelly runs Ogdensburg. On Friday, that becomes a reality of sorts.

Mr. Kelly, who is publisher of the St. Lawrence County Newspapers, will become honorary mayor of the city on his official last day at the newspaper he's worked at for 50 years. Ogdensburg's real mayor, William D. Nelson, is also proclaiming it to be "Chuck Kelly Day." At an open house Tuesday in the Journal/Advance News offices, Mr. Nelson gave Mr. Kelly a key to the city.

Mr. Kelly will continue writing "Kelly's Comments" and the "Glance to the Past" in the Advance News.
