COPENHAGEN — Bernice Battle, 84, of 2965 Mechanic Street, died Tuesday, September 07, 2010 at home under the care of her family and loving care giver. She was born on October 24, 1925 in Copenhagen to William R. and Susan Andrus Battle. She graduated from Copenhagen School; she later attended and graduated from the Watertown School of Commerce.

She was employed as a secretary by John Weeks & Son in Watertown. She also worked for the former Niagara Mohawk for 50+ years in the Watertown office.

She was a loving, caring compassionate lady who loved cats and enjoyed shopping.

She is survived by a sister, Beulah Hayes, Copenhagen; six nieces, Sandra Slate, Adams; JoAnn Staub Roberts, Adams; Carol Ferguson, Dekalb Jct.; Marcia Paradise, PA; Elizabeth Sboro, NC; Nancy Snyder, Copenhagen.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home Inc. 10229 Washington Street, Copenhagen. A Funeral Service is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Copenhagen. June M. Beck

DEXTER — June M. Beck, 89, Star School Rd., Dexter, NY, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2010 at the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown.

She was born in Watertown on June 25, 1921 to Myron Buchanan and Bertha Gosier Buchanan. She graduated from Lyme Central School, Chaumont, NY in 1940.

She married Jack Beck on June 9, 1941 in Cape Vincent. They lived on a farm on the Millens Bay Rd., Chaumont, which they sold in 1965. Jack passed away on October 12, 1978.

June was a homemaker who was a member of the Seaway Lanes Bowling League. She was an avid golfer, a member of the Home Bureau and the Three Mile Bay Grange. She is a member of The Chaumont Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a son, William and his partner, Janice Charles; and two daughters, Janice Beck, Penfield, NY, and Peggy Bennett and her husband Bill, Albion, NY; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Archie Buchanan and his wife Barbara.

June was predeceased by her brother, James Buchanan.

Calling hours are Friday, September 10th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home in Chaumont. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Rachael Roberts officiating and burial following in Dexter Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
