Harold Closs Sr.

Harold C. 'Nit Picker' Closs Sr. 80, of Florence Hill Rd., Florence, went to be with the love of his life Carole on September 7, 2010, after celebrating his daughters 30th wedding anniversary over the weekend. He was born March 27, 1930 in Glenfield, NY a son of Oran & Bertha Mae Swan Closs. Harold was a 1948 graduate of Gen. Martin Academy where he lettered as a varsity baseball and basketball player. Following graduation he served with the U.S. Marine Corp prior to marrying the former Carole Watkins in Syracuse, NY on April 21, 1951. They lived in Camden since 1965 and attended the United Methodist Church. Mrs. Closs passed away Sept 14, 2008.

Mr. Closs retired from the Camden Wire Co., in 1989 as a tinner after 35 years of service. He had previously worked as a farmer in the Croghan and Martinsburg areas. He also worked as a forklift driver with Webb Lumber. He was a member of the NRA, the Marine Corp League L-Z Corp #999 and was an honorary member of Beaver Meadows Sportsman Club and was an extremely enthusiast outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and landscaping his yard.

Surviving are three daughters, Cathy and James Shannon, Camden, Debra and James Moore, Dunnellon, FL, Julie and Charles Mikitin, Annsville, a son, Harold Jr. and Marlene Closs, Camden, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a sister, Ettamae 'Midge' Adams, Brownville, along with several nieces and nephews, including a special niece Maryanne Adams.

Graveside services will be held 11:00am Friday at Old Glendale Cemetery, Glenfield, NY under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-8 pm from the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Camden Little League.
