LaFargeville alumna earns Bronze Star in Afghanistan

FORT DRUM — A 1999 LaFargeville Central School graduate who recently returned from a deployment with the 10th Mountain Division's 1st Brigade Combat Team was awarded a Bronze Star for leadership.

Staff Sgt. Sara J. Alicie, formerly Sara Andrews, was awarded the medal Jan. 20 for leading an intelligence analyst team for the 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery in Northern Afghanistan. According to the award's narrative, the unit conducted intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in conjunction with an unmanned aerial vehicle team.
