Tracy King was named the commissioner of the NCAA Division III Liberty League on Thursday, replacing outgoing commissioner and Canton native Tim Danehy, who served for four years.

King was the commissioner of the Skyline Conference for six years and has worked on college athletics for nearly 20 years. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut.

The Liberty League consists of 11 members including Clarkson and St. Lawrence universities. Other colleges in the league are Hobart and William Smith colleges, the University of Rochester, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Skidmore, Union, Vassar, Bard and Rochester Institute of Technology.

Danehy, a graduate of Clarkson, was named the league’s first full-time commissioner in June of 2007.
