Massena native Andy Draper, an umpire in the Class A South Atlantic League, became one of the most recent victims of a well-known prank by the Famous Chicken, formerly known as the San Diego Chicken.

Draper was working home plate on Aug. 15 in Lakewood, N.J. for a game between the Delmarva Shorebirds and the Lakewood Blueclaws.

It happened to be a night that the Famous Chicken, who tours major and minor league parks throughout the country, happened to be in town.

"The Chicken was extremely nice to us and talked us through everything he was doing on the field," Draper said. "It was definitely one of the highlights of the year to be a part of his act."
