Fort Drum soldier killed in Afghanistan
SUNDAY, AUGUST 28, 2011
FORT DRUM — A 10th Mountain Division soldier died in Kandahar, Afghanistan, Thursday after being attacked with small-arms fire.
Pfc. Jesse W. Dietrich, 20, of Venus, Texas, was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment.
Pfc. Dietrich’s awards and decorations include the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Survivors include a child and Pfc. Dietrich’s father.
