Gouverneur recognizes first Wall of Fame class

GOUVERNEUR — Gouverneur High School will recognize 13 individuals and seven teams in the first class of its newly constructed Wall of Fame on Saturday afternoon after Gouverneur’s football game against Saranac Central.

Past athletic standouts honored will be Leo Canale, Noreen Chamberlain, Bernie Dailey, Roger Dodds, Dave Harper, Lacey Jones, Frank LaFalce, Amy Jo Leonard, Mark Leonard, James Lobdell, Art Moe, Nate Shippee and John Tehonica.

Teams honored will be the 1951-52 wrestling team, the 1953-54 basketball team, the 1960 baseball team, the 1962-63 wrestling team, the 1978-79 basketball team, the 1982 football team and the 1992 softball team.

Honorees will be welcomed at 5:30 p.m. at the unveiling of the wall.
