Fort Drum soldier dies of injuries from attack

The Department of Defense has announced the death of a Fort Drum soldier serving in Afghanistan.
First Sgt. Billy J. Siercks, 32, of Velda Village, Mo., died Wednesday in Landstuhl, Germany, from wounds suffered the day before in Logar, Afghanistan.
He was injured when insurgents attacked his unit using indirect fire.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.
