Man allegedly assaulted girlfriend at Fort Drum

FORT DRUM — State police on Sunday charged Jonathan C. Campbell, 32, of 332 Ellisburg St., Sandy Creek, with first-degree criminal contempt and third-degree assault.

Mr. Campbell was accused of injuring his live-in girlfriend, Natalie M. Clements, 23, during a dispute on Fort Drum, which also allegedly violated an order of protection issued in Oswego County.

He was arraigned before LeRay Town Justice John W. Hallett and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $10,000 bail.

Ms. Clements was treated for unspecified injuries at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, and released.

The alleged incident was investigated initially by Fort Drum military police at 1 a.m., then turned over to troopers after Mr. Campbell and Ms. Clements were found not to be in the military.
