DeKalb, NY Helen May Weegar, 88, a longtime resident of DeKalb, NY, died on Friday, January 13, 2012 at her sons home in Wassaic, NY. Mrs. Weegar was a registered nurse, working private duty, hospitals and nursing homes throughout her career. Born May 11, 1923 in DeKalb, NY, she was the daughter of the late David and Pearl (Weatherup) Holland. She was a graduate of Pulaski High School in Pulaski, NY and a 1957 graduate of the Hepburn Hospital School of Nursing in Ogdensburg, NY. On September 15, 1957 in Lisbon, NY, she married Paul Weegar who predeceased her on January 30, 1976. She was a member of the DeKalb Historical Society, the Old DeKalb Methodist Church in Old DeKalb, NY and the United Methodist Church Womens Division. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed hobbies of knitting, stamping and making hooked rugs.
Mrs. Weegar is survived by three sons, William Kypreos and his wife, Linda, of Wassaic, NY, Paul Weegar, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and Franklin Weegar and his wife, Joyce, of Wassaic, NY; a brother, Stanley Holland of Lorraine, NY and three sisters, Elma Marshall of South Lyon, MI, Dorothy Johnson of Phoenix, AZ and June Gabriel of Hilton, NY. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Frank Kypreos, Karen Grunewald and Susan Weegar and two great grandchildren, Jonathan and William Burke. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Payne and three brothers, James, Clyde and David Holland.
